Christen Geyer leaves no doubt she is pumped up about taking part in her fourth Onalaska High School summer musical and seventh OHS show overall. For one thing, she landed a plum starring role as the witch in this year’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods.”

A league of their own: Students launch four-team softball league (2008/07/04)
Little Billy comes up to the plate, batting last in the lineup, and bunts a slow roller to the pitcher. It should be an easy out, but the pitcher overthrows first base. A couple more miscues and all of a sudden Billy has a home run. In a way, that’s kind of how the Holmen Area Backyard Softball League was born, starting out hoping for a bunt single and ending up notching a homer.

The airport has been busy these last few weeks shuttling exchange students back and forth. Students from overseas who have been attending area high schools and living with host families are leaving to return to their home countries. American students are returning from their studies abroad. Many of them have forged lifelong bonds.
