When Onalaska and Holmen area students do well, we want to hear about it. The Onalaska Community Life and Holmen Courier publish news about student achievements from elementary to college. Here is the latest good news about Onalaska and Holmen area students:

The following area students were named to the dean’s list fo the spring 2008 semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato:

  • HOLMEN: Renee Hanson, Andrew Miller

  • ONALASKA: Kelsey Kruse, Nicholas Moorhouse, Kathleen Stapleton

    Ryan Kindschy, 2004 Holmen High School graduate, graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a bachelor of science degree in sport management and business management.

    Megan Thompson, the daughter of Al and Telitha Thompson of Onalaska, graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Thompson is a graduate of Onalaska High School.

    Laura Johnson of Onalaska, a nursing major at Marquette University in Milwaukee, was named to the schools spring 2008 dean’s list.

    The following area students graduated from University of Wisconsin-Stout:

  • HOLMEN: Jamie Paisley, BA, psychology; Derek Schmitz, MS, vocational rehabilitation/rehab counseling

  • ONALASKA: Sarah Foegen, BS, hotel, restaurant and tourism management; Patrick Gantert, BFA, art/studio concentration; Laura Poast, BS, hotel, restaurant, and tourism management

    Sarah Brown of Onalaska was recognized for outstanding musical and academic achievement with the Professional Music Achievement Award at Berklee College of Music’s annual spring awards ceremony in Boston. She received the award from Kenn Brass, chairman of the school’s professional music department.

    Kaying Lo of Onalaska graduated from Oregon State University with a master of education degree in college student services administration.
