Scholze wins honors at Wartburg College

Holmen High School graduate Hannah Scholze was honored as the outstanding senior among secondary education history majors at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

Scholze majored in history, world history education and American history education. In honoring Scholze, the department noted: “Hannah already has a significant record of scholarship. She co-authored with her mother a history of her home congregation in Wisconsin. She has done substantial research on Aaron Burr, including work in East Coast archives and has found a solution to one of his enciphered letters that has heretofore baffled historians. She has twice presented papers at regional conferences of Phi Alpha Theta, the history honorary society. ... She plans to teach history, and her students will surely benefit from her passion for the subject.”

Scholze, the daughter of Edward and Ruth Scholze of Holmen, also will graduate with a dean’s honor cord, given to graduates with the top 40 grade point averages.
